Sarah Llewellyn is a classically trained composer writing for theatre, film, radio, circus and the concert stage throughout the UK and internationally.
She is currently composer in residence at the Royal Shakespeare Company on the Cameron Mackintosh Scheme. To date she has composed for The Earthworks and Myth (The Other Place), Tales From Ovid (Swan Theatre), Transformations (Concert Swan Theatre) and for the RSC film A Stitch in Time.
She is currently developing a new musical THE WIND SINGER in collaboration with Teresa Howard, an adaptation of the novel by William Nicholson. It had a 25min showcase for BEAM 2018 at Theatre Royal Stratford East and is being developed further with a week of R and D at the RSC in Jan 2019.

Original music and soundscapes for ZARA, an epic outdoor production exploring learning-disability and parenthood. Performances Bradford April 2019 and London May 2019. MIND THE GAP in association with WALK THE PLANK.
A musical soundscape to accompany a photographic exhibition, THE ROAD AHEAD, THE ROAD BEHIND, a project inspired by The Suffragette movement, September – November 2018. THEATRE CHIPPING NORTON in association with TORCH and SCARY LITTLE GIRLS, The Old Fire Station and Boleian library Oxford.
Other recent projects include an original score for THE SCARLET PIMERNEL, a radio drama for BBC RADIO 4, an orchestral score for the film A SHORT EPIC ABOUT LOVE, music for REACH ANOTHER FOUNDATION (Charity films) and A TALE OF TWO CITIES, theatre work, Hong Kong and the Edinburgh Festival.
Sarah has an eclectic portfolio of music for children, circus acts and dance, much of which was created during her 5 years working as composer and musical director for GIFFORDS CIRCUS; WAR AND PEACE THE MUSICAL, THE SATURDAY BOOK, YASMINE A MUSICAL and CARAVAN.
Sarah composed the scores for Much Ado About Nothing, Henry V and Antony and Cleopatra for Alaskan based Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre company.
Sarah set up her London based creative music company Tonal in 2004 and regularly writes for and collaborates with the Tonal Ensemble. To mark 10 years of the company she released her own album ‘10’ in collaboration with French singer/songwriter, Claire Barbier.
